<description>Thank you Cathy for sharing this story, it is moments like the ones your daughter experienced that make this program rewarding for us as volunteers! We are pleased to have you and your daughter in our pageant family.

<description>Last night my daughter participated in the Miss Holmen pageant. Chelsey has
never been the pageant type of girl. Family and friends were pleasantly
surprised to hear that she entered. Chelsey was approached by her voice teacher to enter the pageant, because if they didn't have one more contestant, they would not have the pageant. Three highlights of the pageant:
1. Chelsey's onstage question was about her platform: Family dynamics under
the duress of cancer. Chelsey replied, "When I was 18 months old I was diagnosed with leukemia. At that time my parents were completeley devoted to me, and my sister lost out on a lot of her life because of me. I cannot give her back that time, but in her honor I would like to try and give back to other cancer patient siblings through my platform." The two sisters made eye contact and shared a very touching personal moment.
2. Chelsey asked her brother Isaac to be her escort at the American Legion. Isaac was dressed in black dress pants, a white shirt, and tie. He held out his arm with Chelsey's arm on top. He walked so proud with his sister on his arm. When he arrived at the destination he kissed her hand. The crowd melted and sighed in joy simultaneously. It was a priceless moment!
3. Liz Kramer, the new Miss Holmen, thanked all the girls, and then said, "I
would especially like to thank Chelsey Burge, who came into the pageant so the
rest of us could be here. She was kind and caring and a special addition to the
pageant.
Chelsey won the Interview portion, she won the Holmen Foundation Community
Service Award for her essay, and she tied for the Spirit of Miss America Award.
Chelsey also received money for participating in the pageant.
All in all, Chelsey earned $750 in scholarship money. She also gained
confidence in who she is and new insight into her talents for writing and
interviewing. Both of these are lifeskills that will benefit her in the future.
Several people took time to tell me afterwards about Chelsey's interview. Chelsey was going to college to be a teacher, but after the pageant she has set her sights on being a lawyer. She saw what she could do with her speaking and writing skills and said she always wanted to be a lawyer, but needed the extra boost the pageant provided.

<description>I love the fact you have put on the pictures in this manner but wondering why you do not have pictures from last year. I have been checking web site for the last year and nothing has been updated. Do you know when you will be updating those pictures?</description>

<description>Kathryn - best of luck this week! We are cheering for you!

Would be great if we could get updates on prelims, either here, or on the Miss Wisconsin website. Guess we have to stop in at Blue Cup for news!
I wish they would show the pageant on tv. We were there when they did that, and it added to the excitement.
